Ernakulam

I have been to Ernakulam three times in the last six months and everytime I do something new, see something unique and experience something for the first time.

If you arrive at the peak of the monsoons the drive from the airport will be really divine as you seen the greenest view that Kerala can offer.

If you have the time and the inclination to explore the islands you could choose a cruise where the company might take you to a couple of islands and show you the extremely touristy and the postcard picture of Kochi – the Chinese fishing nets.

You might get to see a lot of ships and if you are lucky you could catch a submarine at Willingdon Island and a few dolphins in the sea – like I got to see!

There is an island for the armed forces, an island for honeymooning couples, an island for the touristy, sovienier collecting, history loving foreigner, an island for the best toddy, an island for doing lots of things and an island for doing nothing at all. So you just need to choose the kind of holiday you want to experience.

The Jewish synagoge in Mattencherry is over 400 years old and is definitely worth a visit.

There is still so much for me to see in cochin ... still haven't seen Fort Kochi, St. Francis Church, Vasco House ... I guess there is one more trip pending for me to see all that and more ...
