Pandal Hopping - Pujo 09
Pandal hopping this year was a lot of fun....thanks to a good friend and her localite friend, who took us around the really big ones. We moved quickly and saw pandals in Ekdalia, Garihat, Dhakuria, Selimpur, Jodhpur Park ....
Each Pandal had it's story tellin motiff - Dhakuria which was completely designed out of diyas, the chandelier piece at EkDalia, the multicolored pandal at Gariahat, the zamindar bari style exterior of Jodhpur park... and so on

One of the best (according to me) was the striking red Bosepukur Pandal with lovely usage of tridents across the area and the vibrant liberal interplay of red and brown. The idols had strong expressive eyes and the whole experience in & around the pandal was worth the fuss getting in.

The entrance to this pandal had huge mottifs of lotus buds at both the sides and the pandal itself was shaped like a Lotus Flower about to bloom. One statue of Durga Ma stood inside with all the other Gods being a part of her fabric.
Gariahat Pandal had a multicolor feel around it....like it was made with crayons and an imagination of a child. Lights and decorations outside the pandal were all inspired by nursery rhymes and gave it a innocent playful feel.
EkDalia Pandal stood out for various reasons. The imposing and definitely eye catching exterior, the huge chandelier inside the pandal and the lovely expressive eyes of Durga Maa which for a change was focussed on the Asura.
This beatiful and extremely unique style of pandal is a true
representative of the creativity which is inherently 'Shantiniketan'

In the night, Pooji and I went to the famous Maddox Square and the huge Deshpriya Park (Mela) ...but that's another story!
